Kingsman Model Codes

The letters after the model number give the fuel and the control: N is natural gas, LP is propane, E is IPI electronic ignition and E2 is Proflame II. An H on the ZCV, MCVP and MCVST models is a separate version of the same size with ceramic glass in place of tempered glass and a higher rated efficiency. The number is a size cue rather than a measurement: the ZCV34 is 33" wide and the IDV26 is 28" wide, so plan the opening from the dimensions on the product page and in the manual.

Zero Clearance Direct Vent Fireplaces

The ZCV fireplaces are traditional in shape and burn behind sealed glass, drawing outside air through 4"/7" venting. Maximum input runs from 18,000 BTU on the ZCV3622 to 25,000 BTU on the ZCV39 and ZCV42; the ZCV39H and ZCV42H are rated up to 28,000 and 29,500 BTU on natural gas. Each is sold as the fireplace only and needs a log set or glass media; liner and surround options vary by model.

The HBZDV fireplaces come in 36", 42" and 47" widths. The HBZDV3624 and HBZDV4224 are rated up to 24,000 BTU, the HBZDV3628 and HBZDV4228 up to 28,000 BTU, and the HBZDV4736 up to 40,000 BTU on natural gas. Each needs a log set and a front, either the Designer Clean View kit or a grill kit with louvers.

Kingsman Linear Fireplaces

The ZCVRB linear fireplaces ship with their burner and bronze glass media, so no log set is needed. Viewing width runs from 29 3/4" on the ZCVRB3622 to 41 5/8" on the ZCVRB47, 61 1/8" on the ZCVRB60 and 73 7/8" on the ZCVRB72. Maximum input is 17,500, 24,500, 35,000 and 50,000 BTU in the same order. The 36" and 47" models vent with 4"/7" pipe and the 60" and 72" models with 5"/8".

Peninsula and See-Through Fireplaces

The MCVP42 and MCVP42H are three-sided peninsula fireplaces for a wall that projects into a room. The MCVST42 and MCVST42H are see-through, open to two rooms, with a 33 11/16" x 27 3/16" viewing area. All four are 43 1/16" wide, are rated between 28,500 and 31,250 BTU depending on model and fuel, and vent with 5"/8" pipe. Each needs either the log grate with a log set or the glass tray with glass media.

Kingsman IDV Fireplace Inserts

An IDV insert goes into an existing fireplace and burns behind sealed glass as a direct vent gas fireplace. The inserts are sold without a front or fuel bed: every install needs a Clean View front and a log set or glass media, plus Kingsman's own liner and termination.

• IDV24: up to 24,000 BTU, 20 13/16" x 11" viewing area, fits an opening at least 24 1/4" wide, 18 1/2" high and 14" deep.
• IDV26: up to 30,000 BTU, 25 1/2" x 15 1/4" viewing area, 3"/3" venting.
• IDV34: up to 31,000 BTU on natural gas, 25 5/8" x 14 1/8" viewing area, 3"/3" venting.
• IDV44: up to 34,250 BTU on natural gas, 29 7/8" x 18 3/8" viewing area, 4"/3" venting.

Surrounds are made for each series, and the IDV24, IDV26, IDV34 and IDV44 each have their own. If the front does not cover your opening, add the matching surround from the product page.

Kingsman Gas Stoves

The FDV stoves are freestanding direct vent stoves with ceramic glass that can be vented horizontally or vertically. The FDV200S is rated up to 28,500 BTU on natural gas, the FDV451 up to 34,500 BTU, and the FDV350 up to 37,000 BTU with a three-sided panoramic glass view. The FVF350 is a vent-free stove with a millivolt valve, rated up to 40,000 BTU on natural gas and 37,000 on propane, with an ODS pilot that shuts the burner off if the oxygen level in the room drops too low. Most stoves are sold as the stove body, so check the product page for the door, log set or burner it needs.

Vent-Free Fireboxes

The ZVFCV39, ZVFCV42 and ZVFCV47 are vent-free fireboxes with no chimney or vent pipe. Each takes the GLVF24 24" vent-free burner, manual or millivolt, and an 18", 24" or 30" fiber split oak log set, and is rated at 38,250 BTU on natural gas and 38,000 on propane. They come with a heat deflector canopy hood and decorative pull screens.

Outdoor Fireplace and Fire Pits

The OFP42 is a 42" vent-free outdoor fireplace rated at 55,000 BTU, offered with a millivolt or an IPI valve and finished with a fiber split oak log set, which is required. The FP2085 round fire pit is 20" across and rated at 57,000 BTU on natural gas or 64,000 on propane; the FP2785LP-FL rectangular fire pit is 27" x 20", runs on propane at 64,000 BTU and comes with lava rock and a flat cover. Both fire pits can be built into a non-combustible enclosure and installed on a wood deck or patio with 24" clearance to side walls and 7 feet to any ceiling.

Venting, Conversion Kits and Parts

Venting is not included with Kingsman direct vent appliances. Each model is listed with a specific vent size, from 3"/3" on the IDV26 and IDV34 to 5"/8" on the multi-sided and larger linear models, and the product page lists the flex kits, terminations, wall thimbles and flashings that fit it. Many models can also use a horizontal power vent with the matching millivolt or IPI control module.

Fuel conversion kits are made for one series, so the ZCV39 kit does not fit a ZCV39H. The same applies to liners, surrounds and safety screen barriers. Common add-ons that fit across several models include the variable-speed fan kit, wall thermostats, millivolt remote controls and the wall-mount battery backup holder for IPI models.

Kingsman FAQs

Should I choose millivolt or IPI?

A millivolt valve uses a standing pilot and runs with no household power, so the fireplace still works in a power outage. IPI lights the pilot only when the fireplace is turned on and needs power, or the wall-mount battery backup holder, to run during an outage. Proflame II (E2) models add a remote with flame, fan, thermostat and battery backup functions.

What else do I need to order with a Kingsman fireplace?

Most Kingsman fireplaces and stoves are sold as the appliance only. Plan on a log set or glass media (the ZCVRB linear models include glass), venting for a direct vent model, and a front or surround where the model calls for one. Each product page has a What to Order list for that model.

Can I convert a Kingsman from natural gas to propane?

Yes, with the conversion kit made for that series and valve type. Millivolt and IPI models use different kits. Have the conversion done by a qualified gas technician.

Will a Kingsman insert fit my fireplace?

Measure the width at the front and back, the height and the depth of your firebox, and compare them with the minimum opening on the insert's product page and manual. The IDV inserts come in four sizes, from the IDV24 to the IDV44.

Are vent-free fireplaces allowed where I live?

Vent-free gas appliances are not allowed in every state, city or room. Check your local codes before you order a ZVFCV firebox or the FVF350 stove, and have a qualified installer do the installation.

Where do I find my Kingsman model number?

The model and fuel are printed on the appliance's rating plate. Record the whole code, including any H, E or E2, since parts and conversion kits are matched to it.
