Empire High-Wind Horizontal Direct Vent Cap

The Empire 46DVA-HC (Empire price list SD46DVAHC) is the DuraVent DirectVent Pro high-wind horizontal termination cap for 4" x 6-5/8" direct-vent pipe. Empire includes it in the DVVK4TP and DVVK4TSP top vent kits and in the Spirit stove vent kits.

Installation Notes

• Mounting: the cap goes on with the arrow pointing up and fastens with the four wood screws supplied; use fasteners suited to stucco, brick or concrete instead. Run a bead of silicone rated above 250 F around its outside edge to seal it to the wall (Tahoe Deluxe manual).
• Cap location: per the Tahoe Deluxe manual, the bottom of the cap must be at least 12" above the ground, the top at least 18" below a combustible projection, and the cap at least 9" from a wall running parallel to it. The cap must not be recessed into the wall or siding.
• Vinyl siding: Empire's manuals call for a vinyl siding standoff when the wall is finished with vinyl siding or another material that could discolor or warp. It goes between the cap and the wall, and the cap bolts to its flat face, leaving an air space.
• Vent limits: allowed lengths, elbows and termination clearances differ from one appliance to the next. Follow the venting section of your appliance's manual and the vent systems it approves.
