Empire Direct Vent Pro Galvanized 90° Elbow

The Empire 46DVA-E90 (Empire price list SD46DVAE90) is a 90° galvanized elbow for DuraVent DirectVent Pro 4" x 6-5/8" direct-vent pipe. Empire includes it in the DVVK4TP and DVVK4TSP top vent kits, where it turns the vent from the top of the fireplace out through the wall.

Installation Notes

• Elbows and run length: on the Tahoe Deluxe, for example, each 45° elbow in the horizontal run takes 18" off the allowed horizontal run and each 90° elbow takes 3 ft; no more than two 45° elbows per sidewall install. Elbows on the vertical part do not reduce the horizontal run, and on vertical venting the first elbow is not counted.
• Vent limits: allowed lengths, elbows and termination clearances differ from one appliance to the next. Follow the venting section of your appliance's manual and the vent systems it approves.
• Clearances: the Tahoe Deluxe manual calls for 3" from combustibles above horizontal 4" x 6-5/8" pipe and elbows, 1" at the sides and bottom, and 1" around vertical pipe where it passes through the roof.
• Joints: sections lock together: line up the beads, push the pieces together and turn about 90° (roughly 3") clockwise. Seal the outer joints with aluminum tape, screws or silicone rated above 300 F; the inner flue joints need no sealant (Tahoe Deluxe manual).
• Finish: this is a galvanized elbow. Empire's price list says to use black 4" x 6-5/8" venting where it shows in the room. The black elbows are not on our site, so ask us if you need them.
