Empire Direct Vent Pro Ceiling Firestop

The Empire 46DVA-FS (Empire price list SD46DVAFS) is the DuraVent DirectVent Pro ceiling firestop for 4" x 6-5/8" direct-vent pipe. Empire's manuals require one at every ceiling the vent passes through, as a heat shield that also holds the pipe at its clearance.

Installation Notes

• Ceiling firestop: use one ceiling firestop at each ceiling the vent passes through. The Tahoe Deluxe manual calls for a 10" x 10" hole framed with lumber the size of the joists. Fasten the firestop to the ceiling side of the hole, or on top of the framed hole when the space above is an attic, and clear insulation out of the framed area first.
• Clearances: the Tahoe Deluxe manual calls for 3" from combustibles above horizontal 4" x 6-5/8" pipe and elbows, 1" at the sides and bottom, and 1" around vertical pipe where it passes through the roof.
• Vent limits: allowed lengths, elbows and termination clearances differ from one appliance to the next. Follow the venting section of your appliance's manual and the vent systems it approves.
