Empire FBB5 Automatic Single-Speed Blower Accessory

Empire FBB5 Automatic Single-Speed Blower Accessory

The Empire FBB5 (model number FBB5) is the automatic single-speed blower for Empire's Breckenridge vent-free fireboxes, the Vail Premium 32 and 36, and the Vail and Tahoe 36 peninsula and see-through fireplaces. A heat-activated fan control switch turns it on as the firebox warms up and off when it cools down; the SCV1 control adds variable speed.

Installation Notes

• Pre-wiring: the junction box on the right side of the firebox must be pre-wired when the firebox is installed; the Breckenridge manuals say a standard on/off wall switch or the optional SCV1 variable speed control should power the firebox and control the blower. Wiring by a qualified electrician, to local codes and NFPA 70.
• Order of work: install the blower assembly before connecting the gas inlet supply line.
• Placement: the blower sits in the bottom of the firebox, centered against the back wall and held by magnets; the fan control switch mounts at the top of the firebox with two screws.
• Care: the motor has no oiling holes; if air output drops or noise rises, clean lint from the blower wheels. Unplugging the blower does not stop the heater from cycling.
