Empire 32" Vail Vent-Free Premium Fireplace with Slope Glaze Burner - IP Control

Empire 32" Vail Vent-Free Premium Fireplace with Slope Glaze Burner - IP Control

A Vent-Free system uses room air for combustion and delivers 99.9% of the available heat energy directly to the room. Vent-Free systems have an unmatched safety record, thanks in part to their clean-burning technology and their Oxygen Depletion Sensor, which instantly shuts of the valve if oxygen in the room drops to an unsafe level. Because no venting is required, Vent-Free systems offer more installation options.

Vent-Free systems are limited to 40,000 Btu and must be operated as supplemental heating sources in conjunction with a central furnace that circulates air.

Advantages:

• Unmatched efficiency – 99.9%
• Offers the most installation versatility
• Usually less expensive to buy and to install
• Can operate with a remote or thermostat
• Most systems can provide life-saving heat during a winter power outage

Vail Vent-Free Fireplaces

At 99.9 percent efficient, the Vent-Free Vail Fireplace delivers more heat for your energy dollars – 32,000 Btu for the Vail 32 and 36,000 Btu for the Vail 36.  Ceramic glazed pellets in the burner tumble and swirl the gas to produce a natural flickering flame.

The Vail 24 delivers the beauty of hand-painted ceramic fiber logs and natural flickering flames to dens, halls, and even bedrooms (10,000 Btu models only, where local codes allow).

The Vail 26 Special Edition is the American-made fireplace system that ships complete in one package, and is also offered as a separate fireplace – perfect for built-in and custom mantel applications.

Vail Premium 32 and 36

The Vail 32 and 36 Premium Vent-Free Fireplaces feature hem-bent seams that provide a better seal while eliminating dozens of screws and fasteners.  The result is a lighter, more rigid box that’s easier to install.

Choose one of two available log sets – Ceramic Fiber or Refractory. Both are hand painted for exceptional realism and exquisite detail.

Choose one of two liners – aged brick or stacked limestone to complement your decor.

The matte black arched screen front perfectly frames the logs and optional brick liner to create an exceptionally beautiful fireplace.  All Vail fireplaces come with matte black slat louvers and hood.

Installation Requirements

• Clearances to combustibles: At least 2" from the inside of the fireplace to a combustible side wall; ceiling at least 36" above the top of the hood. The fireplace outer casing sides and back have zero clearance to combustibles.
• Mantel clearance: Follow the mantel chart in the installation manual for any combustible mantel above the unit.
• Venting: Vent-free. No chimney, flue or vent pipe is required.
• Minimum room size: The room must have at least 50 cubic feet of volume per 1,000 Btu/hr of the combined input of all appliances drawing combustion air from it (the manual's "unconfined space" rule). At the 32,000 Btu/hr maximum input that is at least 1,600 cubic feet.
• Bedrooms and bathrooms: Not permitted. At 32,000 Btu/hr this unit is over the limit: the manual prohibits unvented room heaters rated over 10,000 Btu/hr in a bedroom or bathroom, and over 6,000 Btu/hr in a bathroom. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, unvented propane and natural gas-fired space heaters are prohibited in bedrooms and bathrooms.
• Local codes: Always consult your local Building Department regarding regulations, codes or ordinances that apply to installing an unvented room heater.
• Altitude: Above 2,000 feet, input ratings should be reduced 4 percent for each 1,000 feet above sea level.
• Gas input (BTU/hr): Natural gas and propane 32,000 max / 22,000 min (millivolt and intermittent pilot models alike)
• Power: Intermittent pilot control runs on an AC power adapter, with 4 AA batteries as backup. The FBB5 blower needs a 120V AC supply.
• Installation: Must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes.
