Sierra Flame
Sierra Flame was started by Brian Richards, who saw a need for gas fireplaces with contemporary designs, and it draws on nearly four decades of experience in the fireplace and heating industry. Its sister company is Amantii, the electric fireplace maker. The gas range covers linear, three-sided, see-through and four-sided direct vent fireplaces, a direct vent insert for existing masonry fireplaces and a vent-free outdoor fireplace, and Sierra Flame lists Canada as the country of manufacture for its gas fireplaces. The Lynwood W76 cast iron wood stove, made in Belgium, rounds out the line.

- Screen-free double glass: the Vienna single-sided linear (40", 50", 60"), the Toscana three-sided peninsula (38", 48", 58") and the Lyon 48 four-sided see-through use fans to keep the glass cool, so there is no mesh screen, and they frame in wood.
- Deluxe linear: the Austin 65L, Stanford 55L and Bennett 45L come with a programmable thermostat remote, modulating valve and dual fans, and finish with a surround and safety barrier.
- Compact and builder models: the Newcomb 36, Thompson 36, Lamego 45 and the Boston 36, which frames just 9 5/8" deep.
- See-through: the slim Emerson 48ST and the curved-front Palisade 36.
- Insert and outdoor: the Abbot 30 direct vent insert for existing masonry fireplaces, and the Tahoe 45OL stainless steel, vent-free outdoor fireplace.
Venting and Accessories
- 5" x 8" termination kit for the Vienna, Toscana and Lyon; 4" x 7" venting parts for the Austin, Stanford, Bennett, Newcomb and Thompson.
- Propane conversion kits: Vienna, Toscana and the other gas models.
- The Newcomb 36 decorative surround, the Boston 36 basic remote and the Lynwood W76 heat shield.
Sierra Flame Warranty
Sierra Flame gas fireplaces carry a five-year limited warranty on the combustion chamber, heat exchanger and burners, and one year on electrical and wear parts such as blowers, valves, remotes, igniters and glass (thermal damage only). It requires installation by a licensed technician. See the Sierra Flame Gas Fireplace Warranty (2024). The Lynwood W76 has its own five-year warranty on cast iron and steel parts, in the stove manual.
Sierra Flame FAQs
Who makes Sierra Flame fireplaces?
Sierra Flame was founded by Brian Richards, and its sister company is Amantii, the electric fireplace maker. Sierra Flame lists Canada as the country of manufacture for its gas fireplaces; the Lynwood W76 wood stove is made in Belgium.
Natural gas or propane?
The gas fireplaces ship for natural gas and convert to propane with a model-specific conversion kit; on most pages you can pick the Liquid Propane option. The Lyon 48 is natural gas only.
Which Sierra Flame fireplaces do not need a safety screen?
The Vienna, Toscana and Lyon use fan-cooled double glass, which keeps the front glass below the limit for running without a mesh barrier. The fans must run whenever the fireplace is on.
Do I need to buy a surround?
Yes for the Austin 65L, Stanford 55L and Bennett 45L, which finish with a surround and safety barrier, and for the Abbot 30 insert, which needs its safety screen and a surround. Check each product page for the matching part number.
What venting do they use?
Vienna, Toscana and Lyon: 5" x 8" direct vent. Austin, Stanford, Bennett, Newcomb and Thompson: 4" x 7". Boston 36 and Emerson 48ST: 4" x 6". The Abbot 30 insert runs two 3" pipes up the existing chimney, and the Tahoe 45OL outdoor fireplace needs no venting. Always follow the installation manual for runs and terminations.
