Monessen

Three Ways to Buy a Monessen

• A complete fireplace: the Artisan, Aria and Symphony come with the burner and controls installed at the factory.
• An insert for a fireplace you already have: the Solstice 33 slides into an existing masonry or listed factory-built fireplace.
• A firebox, burner and log set you pick yourself: choose an Attribute, Exacta or Lo-Rider firebox, then add a matching Monessen burner and log set.

Monessen Artisan Vent-Free Linear Fireplaces

The Artisan is Monessen's modern linear fireplace, with a 17" tall opening in 42", 48", 60" and 72" widths, plus the 48" Artisan See-Through for a wall between two rooms. Every Artisan comes with crushed glass media and IntelliFire Touch 2.0 electronic ignition, and the 48", 60" and 72" models include a touchscreen remote. Heat output runs up to 34,000 BTU/hr on the 42" and up to 40,000 BTU/hr on the 60" and 72". The 42" is also offered in a reduced BTU version for smaller rooms and lower mantels.

Change the look with fireglass media in Bronze, Sapphire, Onyx or Diamond, a driftwood log set or a stone kit.

Monessen Aria, Symphony and Solstice

For a traditional log fire, the Aria comes in 32" and 36" sizes with a 24" Natural Blaze burner rated up to 37,000 BTU/hr; you choose the log set. The compact Symphony 32 is rated up to 28,000 BTU/hr and includes its own 7-piece log set, so nothing else is needed to complete it. The Solstice 33 insert has an 18" Natural Blaze burner rated up to 28,000 BTU/hr and a blower included; add a log set, a surround and an interior liner. All three come in natural gas or propane with millivolt or IPI control.

Monessen Vent-Free Fireboxes

A firebox is the shell of the fireplace. It has no burner, so you pair it with a vent-free burner and log set of up to 40,000 BTU/hr. The Attribute, Exacta and Lo-Rider fireboxes have zero clearance to combustible framing on the sides, back, top and bottom.

• Attribute (32", 36" and 42"): a circulating firebox with a radiant clean face and reversible interior panels.
• Exacta (32", 36" and 42"): a circulating clean-face firebox with your choice of interior panels.
• Lo-Rider (36" and 42"): a clean-face firebox with a low hearth and a 30" tall opening.
• Lo-Rider See-Through (36"): open on both sides, for use with a see-through burner such as the 27" Natural Blaze See-Through burner.

Monessen Burners and Gas Log Sets

Each Monessen log set is made for one burner family, so pick the burner and the logs together:

• Natural Blaze burner (18" and 24" millivolt, or 18" and 24" IntelliFire Plus with remote): Berkley Oak ceramic fiber (18", 24" and 30"), Berkley Oak refractory (18", 24" and 30"), Highland Oak (18", 24" and 30"), Beachcomber (18", 24" and 30") and Stony Creek (18", 24" and 30").
• Glow Getter burner (18" and 24" millivolt, or 18" and 24" IntelliFire Plus with remote): Charisma (18", 24" and 30"), Dynamo (18", 24" and 30") and Moxie (18", 24" and 30").
• Lumonessen burner (manual or millivolt ignition): one burner for all three log sizes, with Mezmer (18", 24" and 30"), Mezmer Split (18", 24" and 30") and Mountain Oak (18", 24" and 30").
• Lyric contemporary burner (24" and 30"): burns through fire glass instead of logs.

The 18" Natural Blaze and Glow Getter burners are rated up to 29,000 BTU/hr and the 24" burners up to 37,000 BTU/hr. A 24" burner takes either a 24" or a 30" log set. Natural Blaze, Glow Getter and Lyric burners can be installed vent-free or vented.

Monessen Mantels, Remotes and Accessories

Finish the install with Monessen flush mantels such as the Kenwood and Roxborough, mantel shelves, granite and marble surround sets, a 160 CFM fan kit for Attribute and Exacta fireboxes, and controls from a handheld on/off remote to the IntelliFire Wi-Fi module.

Monessen FAQs

Do Monessen vent-free fireplaces need a chimney?

No. A vent-free fireplace has no chimney or vent pipe and takes its combustion air from the room. That is why room size matters: the room needs at least 50 cubic feet of volume for every 1,000 BTU/hr of all appliances in it, or extra ventilation as the manual describes.

Are vent-free fireplaces allowed where I live?

Vent-free gas appliances are not allowed in every state, city or room. Check your state and local codes before you order, and have a qualified installer do the installation and service.

What is an ODS pilot?

ODS stands for oxygen depletion sensor. Monessen vent-free fireplaces and inserts use an ODS pilot, a safety device that monitors the oxygen level in the room and shuts the gas off if it drops too low.

What is the difference between millivolt and IPI or IntelliFire controls?

Millivolt models use a pilot with a piezo ignitor and need no household power. IPI and IntelliFire models use electronic ignition and can be run from a remote; IntelliFire Plus burners come with the RC300 remote, and the Aria and Symphony IPI models include a battery backup.

Do Monessen fireplaces come in natural gas and propane?

Yes. Monessen fireplaces, inserts and burners are offered in natural gas and propane versions. Choose the fuel on the product page; the order number is different for each.
