Grand Canyon Gas Logs
Grand Canyon makes gas logs in sizes almost nobody else does. Ordinary log sets stop at 30" or 36"; Grand Canyon's run from 18" up to 120" in the jumbo and linear configurations, which is why they turn up in oversized masonry fireplaces and long contemporary openings where a standard set would look lost.
The range covers vented, vent-free and see-through log sets, jumbo and slimline variants, linear sets for long burners, dedicated outdoor fire pit logs, fire bowls with ring or tee-pee burners, fire pit kits, fire media and the burners and parts to go with them.
Species include Arizona Weathered Oak, Arizona Weathered Oak Charred, Arizona Juniper, Quaking Aspen, Western Driftwood, Blue Pine Split, Red Oak, Split Oak, Aspen Birch in white, and the Kiva set for corner fireplaces. How vented, vent-free and see-through differ — and which to buy — is below the grid.

View full detailsVented, vent-free or see-through?
Vented log sets are the most realistic. They burn a tall, lazy yellow flame with real soot and char, and they require a working chimney with the damper open — which means almost all the heat goes up the flue. Buy these for appearance in a fireplace you already have.
Vent-free sets burn cleaner and hotter with the damper closed, so the heat stays in the room. The flame is shorter and more controlled because it has to burn clean enough to vent indoors. They are restricted or prohibited in some states and municipalities and in most codes cannot go in a bedroom or bathroom, so check locally before ordering.
See-through sets are built for double-sided fireplaces that open into two rooms, and they are finished on both faces so neither side shows the back of a log. They cost noticeably more than a single-sided set of the same width, because they are effectively two arrangements sharing one burner.
Sizing a log set
Log set sizes describe the set, not your fireplace. The number to work from is the width of your fireplace opening at the front, and the usual guidance is to leave a few inches of clearance at each end so the logs are not touching the side walls. A set that is slightly small reads as deliberate; one that is slightly large looks wedged in and can interfere with the burner.
Grand Canyon's standard sets are listed as ranges — 18" to 42", 18" to 60" — because the same species and arrangement is built in several widths. The jumbo and linear sets extend to 120", which is where they have no real competition. If you are ordering above about 60", send us your opening dimensions and the burner you are running and we will check the fit before the order goes in.
Grand Canyon questions
How big do Grand Canyon gas logs go?
Up to 120 inches. The standard sets are built in ranges from 18 inches upward, typically to 42, 48 or 60 inches depending on the species, and the Jumbo and Linear configurations extend to 120 inches. That top end is what Grand Canyon is known for — most manufacturers stop around 36 inches, so oversized masonry fireplaces and long contemporary burners are the cases where this brand is often the only option.
Can I use gas logs in an outdoor fire pit?
Only if they are made for it, and Grand Canyon builds a dedicated outdoor range for exactly this: outdoor fire pit log sets in Arizona Weathered Oak, Western Driftwood and Aspen Birch, sized 18 to 48 inches, plus round flat-stack and tall-stack fire pit kits. Indoor vented logs are not a substitute — they are not built for weather exposure or for the airflow of an open pit.
What is the difference between a vented and a vent-free gas log set?
A vented set needs the chimney damper open and burns a tall, realistic yellow flame, but most of its heat goes up the flue. A vent-free set burns with the damper closed, puts its heat into the room and is far more efficient, but the flame is shorter and less natural-looking because it must burn clean enough to vent indoors. Vent-free is also restricted or banned in some jurisdictions. Choose vented for looks, vent-free for heat, and check your local code before committing to vent-free.
Do I need a specific burner for these logs?
Yes — the log set and the burner are matched, and the burner determines the flame pattern, the fuel type and the control system. Grand Canyon supplies burners, pans, connection kits, valves and remotes alongside the log sets, and the fire bowls are sold with either a ring burner or a tee-pee burner depending on the flame shape you want. If you are replacing logs on an existing burner, check the burner model before ordering rather than assuming any set will drop on.
