Empire 4" x 7" Vertical Direct Vent Fireplace Kit

The Empire DVVK4FV is a vertical flex vent termination kit for Empire direct-vent fireplaces listed for it. It runs 4" x 7" flex vent from the fireplace up to a 48" rigid section and cap through the roof, and must end vertically.

Specifications

Installation Notes

• Runs: the flex can leave the fireplace vertically or horizontally and may include two 90° bends, but must terminate vertically. Any horizontal section needs a 1/4" rise per foot toward the cap.
• Clearances (sheet): 3" above and 1" at the sides and bottom of horizontal runs; 1" around the pipe at the roof. The ceiling opening is at least 9-1/2" x 9-1/2", and the cap must end at least 12" above the roof.
• Supports (sheet): strap horizontal runs every 2 ft and vertical runs every 3 ft.
• Flex rules: do not mix the flex with rigid pipe sections or join flex lengths without approved connectors, and never connect the kit to a flue serving another appliance.
• Loft fireplaces: the Loft manual says the DVVK4FV requires the SD46DVAFCFX7 adaptor.
• Installation: must be installed by a qualified installer following the fireplace manual and local codes. In Massachusetts, gas work must be done by a licensed plumber or gas fitter.
