Ascent or Ascent X
The Ascent ships ready to burn, with its PHAZER log set and glowing ember bed, a pan style burner with flame and heat adjustment, tempered glass with a standard safety barrier and a battery back-up control system. A remote and a blower are optional.
The Ascent X 36 and 42 come with more in the box:
- A high definition oak log set and glowing ember bed.
- Heat-radiating ceramic glass with a premium safety screen.
- A blower with variable speed and thermostatic control.
- A thermostatic on/off remote (F60).
- NIGHT LIGHT.
- Emergency operation from a USB power bank on electronic ignition models (power bank not supplied).
The Ascent X also runs hotter: 26,000 BTU/hr on the 36" against 18,000 for the Ascent 36, and 30,000 on the 42" against 22,000 for the Ascent 42. The Ascent X 42 frames taller than the Ascent 42 (41-1/8" against 35") and uses larger 5" / 8" vent pipe, so frame and vent the wall for the model you choose. The Ascent X 36 is the same 34-5/8" x 35" x 15-3/8" size as the Ascent 36, with a smaller 28" x 21-1/4" window.
Every Ascent and Ascent X is approved for bedroom, bathroom and bed-sitting room installation and certified for mobile homes.
The Ascent Multi-View
The Multi-View comes as a see-through (BHD4ST) or a three-sided peninsula (BHD4P), each with a log set or with glass media and Topaz embers included. It runs on natural gas at up to 30,000 BTU/hr, with electronic ignition, a battery back-up and a safety screen, and needs at least 50" of enclosure height from the bottom of the fireplace. Multi-View add-ons on this page:
- MIRRO-FLAME porcelain end panel (PRPHD4): two are needed on a see-through.
- Newport standard brick end panel (GD851KT), for log versions: two are needed on a see-through.
- Modulating valve regulator with remote (GD826N / GD826P).
- Art Metal Coil designer fire art (LDAC), for glass versions.
Panels, fronts and trims
None of these are required on the Ascent or Ascent X. Choose by size:
- MIRRO-FLAME porcelain reflective panels (PRPB30-1, PRPB36, PRPB42TR, PRPB46). The Ascent X 36 also takes PRPB36; the Ascent X 42 takes PRPX42.
- Westminster brick panels for the Ascent 36, 42 and 46, in standard (DBPB..WS) or herringbone (DBPB..WH). On the Ascent 36 these fit top vent installations only.
- Westminster brick panels for the Ascent X 36, in standard (DBPX36WS) or herringbone (DBPX36WH).
- Decorative fronts: Zen (Z30F, Z35F, Z42F, Z46F) or Heritage (H30F, H35F, H42F, H46F). The 35F fronts fit the 36" models.
- Finishing trims: 3" black 3 or 4-sided trim (TK30, TK35, TK42) or 3" black 4-sided bevelled trim (BT30K, BT36K, BT42K, BT46K).
- Surrounds for the 36" and 42" models: 3" black with standard safety barrier (CFF, 36"), 3" grey wrought iron (X36WI, X42WI), and on the Ascent X 36, black traditional (GX427K) or scalloped wrought iron (GX725WI) with an operable door and premium screen.
Media kits and the support bracket
The Ascent and Ascent X take optional media kits: Beach Fire logs, Shore Fire, Woodland, mineral rocks and Ambient-Glow embers. On the Ascent, the support bracket for media kits (RR30, RR36, or RR42 for the 42 and 46) must be ordered whenever optional media is added.
Remotes, blowers and heat management
- Ascent: optional on/off remote (F45) or thermostatic remote (F60), wall mount digital thermostat (W660-0081), variable speed thermostatic blower kit (AUB) and the Hot Air Distribution Kit (LHAD).
- Ascent X: the remote and blower are included. Options are the eFIRE Bluetooth controller (EFCN-PF0 natural gas, EFCP-PF0 propane), the wall mount digital thermostat, and Universal Heat Management (UHM side grill or UHMF front grill) or the LHAD kit for reduced clearances to combustibles.
- Multi-View: optional F45 or F60 remote, or the modulating valve regulator with remote.
Venting
The Ascent 30, 36, 42 and 46 and the Ascent X 36 vent on 4" exhaust and 7" air intake pipe, from the top or the rear. The Ascent X 42 uses 5" / 8" pipe, top or rear, and the Multi-View 5" / 8", reducible to 4" / 7" as described in its manual. The Ascent X is approved for flex or rigid vent. The power vent adaptor kit PVA-ASCENT is listed for the Ascent 30, 36 and 42 and the Ascent X 36, and PVAL50 for the glass Multi-View; the Ascent X 42 is certified for a power vent kit on top vent installations. Vent run limits and clearances are in each model's installation manual on its product page.

Ascent, Altitude X or Elevation X
The Ascent and Ascent X are the smaller, shallower end of Napoleon's traditional direct vent range, with windows about 21" to 24" tall. The Altitude X and Elevation X have windows 33-1/8" to 37-1/8" tall and run 34,000 to 45,000 BTU/hr. Our guide Napoleon Ascent vs Ascent X vs Altitude X vs Elevation X compares all four.
Warranty
Every model here carries Napoleon's President's Lifetime Limited Warranty. The combustion chamber, heat exchanger, burner, PHAZER logs and embers, ceramic glass (thermal breakage) and porcelain enamelled parts are covered for as long as you own the fireplace: Napoleon repairs or replaces them free for the first 10 years and supplies the parts at half the current retail price after that. Electrical and wearable parts, such as blowers, gas valves, remotes and ignitors, are covered for the first year, as is warranty labour through an authorized Napoleon dealer.
