Empire Tahoe Clean-Face See-Through 36" Direct Vent Gas Fireplace
The Empire Tahoe Clean-Face See-Through 36" (model numbers DVCP36SP30N and DVCP36SP30P with millivolt control, DVCP36SP70N and DVCP36SP70P with intermittent pilot) is a zero-clearance direct-vent gas fireplace with glass on two sides, front and back. The clean face puts the barrier screens flush with the fireplace front, so tile, brick or other non-combustible material can run right up to the opening.
The fire needs either the Campfire log set or the mixed logs and stones kit, ordered separately. Liners, a blower, a lighting kit and decorative frames can be added, and non-combustible board for the area above the fireplace comes in the carton.

Installation Requirements
-
Clearances to combustibles: back 0", sides near the face 0", floor 0", top standoffs 0", outer top to framing 3", above the vent 3".
-
Side wall: at least 6" from a perpendicular wall to the fireplace opening in peninsula or room-divider positions.
-
Facing: non-combustible board must cover the area 16" above the fireplace face on all visible sides, and only non-combustible material may cover the black fireplace front.
-
Mantel: a combustible mantel may project 12" at 26" above the fireplace opening, stepping down to flush at 16"; follow the mantel chart in the installation manual.
-
Framing: use 2 x 4 lumber. Framing members may rest on the standoffs, but the standoffs are not load-bearing; in a load-bearing wall the framing needs a structural header above the fireplace.
-
Floor: on carpet, tile or any combustible floor other than wood, set the fireplace on a metal or wood panel the full width and depth of the unit.
-
Venting: 5" x 8" direct vent. From the top, the run starts with a 45° elbow and can go up to 40 ft vertical or 20 ft horizontal, following the vent graph in the manual; island and room-divider installs need at least 8 ft of vertical rise for a 20 ft horizontal run. From the rear, the pipe runs straight out the wall, up to 7 ft on natural gas or 3 ft on propane. Keep 1" beside and below horizontal pipe and 3" above it, using the SD58DVAWTEC wall thimble, and 2" around vertical pipe for the first 12" above the fireplace.
-
Power: the millivolt burner needs no electricity; the intermittent pilot runs on an AC adapter with battery backup. The optional blower and lighting kit need a 120V supply to the junction box on the vent end.
-
Installation: must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes.
