The Empire Tahoe barrier screens and door frames with barrier (model numbers DVFB36SBL, DVWB2BL, DVFB42TBL, DVWB3BL, DVFB48TBL and DVWB4BL) are the matte black barrier choices for the Tahoe Deluxe 36", 42" and 48" direct-vent fireplaces. The 42" and 48" pieces also fit the Tahoe Premium 42" and 48". Each size comes as a barrier screen on its own or as a door frame with barrier, which accepts a decorative door set.

Installation Notes

• Barrier required: the fireplace manual says a barrier screen is required to operate the fireplace and is sold separately; follow the instructions that come with the screen.
• Barrier or door frame: Empire's price list says to choose either the barrier or the door frame with barrier; the decorative door sets need the door frame with barrier.
• Doors: Empire's 2019 Tahoe brochure says the door frame with barrier screen has hinges to accept an operable door set, and that screens, frames and doors come in matte black only.
• Fitting the screen: the Premium and Luxury manuals say to remove the top and bottom louvers, release the two glass latches, angle the barrier screen frame so its bracket rests over the glass frame, then engage the two glass latches over the barrier screen and glass frames.
• Annual check: the manual's annual inspection includes checking the barrier screen for fit and structural integrity.
