Empire 18"/24"/30" Vent-Free Slope Glaze Gas Burner, Intermittent Pilot with Thermostat Variable Remote Control (Burner Only)

Vent-Free Slope Glaze Burners

Empire popular Slope Glaze Burners raise the standard for dancing flames. Internal ceramic beads tumble the gas to create an exceptionally realistic flame movement.

The Empire Slope Glaze Burner with logs provides a lovely atmosphere for your family room or den. The Slope Glaze burner creates lifelike flames that accentuate the lifelike look and appeal of the logs. The combined physical features of the logs and flames add to the atmosphere of the fireplace. The Slope Glaze Burner features concealed controls and includes an intermittent pilot and thermostat remote with variable flame height control (remote included).

Includes: Thermostat Variable Remote Control.

Installation Requirements

  • Approved for: Installation only in a solid-fuel burning masonry or UL 127 factory-built fireplace, or in a listed ventless firebox enclosure.
  • Venting: Vent-free: no chimney or vent needed when installed as a vent-free heater. May also be installed as a vented decorative appliance with the damper clamp installed so the damper cannot close. Thermostats are for vent-free use only; vented installations must use the RCAF non-thermostat remote.
  • Clearances to combustibles: Sides of the fireplace opening at least 6" from any combustible wall; ceiling at least 41" above the fireplace opening.
  • Mantel clearance: Non-combustible material must extend at least 12" above the fireplace opening (at least 8" with the optional hood). Follow the mantel chart in the installation manual for any combustible mantel.
  • Minimum room size: The room must have at least 50 cubic feet of volume per 1,000 Btu/hr of input (unconfined space). At maximum input that is at least 18" NG: 1,600 cu ft; 18" LP: 1,500 cu ft; 24" NG: 1,775 cu ft; 24" LP: 1,800 cu ft; 30": 1,900 cu ft.
  • Bedrooms and bathrooms: Not permitted in a bedroom or bathroom. The manual prohibits unvented heaters over 10,000 Btu/hr in bedrooms and over 6,000 Btu/hr in bathrooms, and every model on this page is rated above 10,000 Btu/hr.

Above 2,000 ft elevation, reduce the input rating 4% per 1,000 ft above sea level.
  • Power: Intermittent pilot (electronic) ignition. The control uses a 4 AA battery pack; an R10419 AC/DC adapter is listed as an accessory.
  • Installation: Must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes.
