Empire 16"/18"/24"/30" Vent-Free Slope Glaze Gas Burner with Variable Flame Remote Control (Burner Only)

Empire popular Slope Glaze Burners raise the standard for dancing flames. Internal ceramic beads tumble the gas to create an exceptionally realistic flame movement.

Special Ceramic Bead materials within the precisely ported burner swirl the flowing gas to produce naturally flickering flames. All come with piezo ignition and standing pilot. The Variable Remote turns the burner off and on, and lets you vary the flame height to maintain a comfortable room temperature. All vent-free burners include an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) to instantly shut off the system if oxygen in the room drops to unsafe levels.

The Slope Glaze Burner features concealed controls and include a standing pilot for instant starts. This burner features ON/OFF operation as well as variable flame height control and can be operated either manually or with a remote control (included). It includes a hi/lo manual knob on the burner, inside the firebox.

Installation Requirements

• Approved for: Installation only in a solid-fuel burning masonry or UL 127 factory-built fireplace, or in a listed ventless firebox enclosure.
• Venting: Vent-free: no chimney or vent needed when installed as a vent-free heater. May also be installed as a vented decorative log set; the damper clamp must then be installed so the damper cannot close.
• Clearances to combustibles: Sides of the fireplace opening at least 6" from any combustible wall; ceiling at least 36" (16" burner) or 41" (18", 24", 30" burners) above the fireplace opening.
• Mantel clearance: Non-combustible material must extend at least 12" above the fireplace opening (at least 8" with the optional hood). Follow the mantel chart in the installation manual for any combustible mantel.
• Minimum room size: The room must have at least 50 cubic feet of volume per 1,000 Btu/hr of input (unconfined space). At maximum input that is at least 16" NG: 1,250 cu ft; 16" LP: 1,125 cu ft; 18": 1,600 cu ft; 24": 1,800 cu ft; 30": 1,900 cu ft.
• Bedrooms and bathrooms: Not permitted in a bedroom or bathroom. The manual prohibits unvented heaters over 10,000 Btu/hr in bedrooms and over 6,000 Btu/hr in bathrooms, and every model on this page is rated above 10,000 Btu/hr.
• Gas input (BTU/hr): 16": natural gas 25,000 max / 18,000 min, propane 22,500 max / 17,000 min; 18": 32,000 max / 21,000 min (natural gas and propane); 24": 36,000 max / 24,000 min (both gases); 30": 38,000 max / 27,000 min (both gases). Above 2,000 ft elevation, reduce the input rating 4% per 1,000 ft above sea level.
• Power: Standing pilot. The remote receiver uses 4 AA batteries (supplied) and the hand-held remote a 12V A23 battery.
• Installation: Must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes.
