Coyote CL-Series built-in gas grill in a covered outdoor kitchen at sunset

Coyote Grills Compared: C-Series vs CL-Series vs SL-Series

Coyote makes three lines of built-in gas grills: the C-Series, the CL-Series and the SL-Series. They run from $1,549 to $4,499 for the grill head, and all are 304 stainless steel. What changes as you move up is the burner type and power, safety valves, the hood, the lighting and how much comes in the box. This guide puts all seven Coyote gas grills in one chart, then covers Coyote's hybrid, combo, flat top, charcoal and pellet grills.

The difference in one paragraph

The C-Series is the value line: cast stainless I-burners, stainless heat control grids, a built-in wind guard and interior halogen lights, in 30" and 34". The CL-Series moves up to 20,000 BTU cast Infinity Burners, adds thermocouple safety valves, a spring-assisted hood, heat zone separators and white backlit knobs, and comes in 36" and 42". The SL-Series is the top line: Infinity Burners plus a 15,000 BTU RapidSear infrared burner, a 15,000 BTU rear rotisserie burner, ceramic briquettes, color-shifting backlit knobs and a Coyote logo light, with the rotisserie kit and smoker box included, in 30", 36" and 42".

Coyote C-Series: the value line

The C-Series is the lowest-priced way into a Coyote built-in grill. It has an 18-gauge 304 stainless steel grill box and a double-walled canopy, three cast stainless steel I-burners for 45,000 BTU, newly designed stainless heat control grids, a built-in wind guard, interior halogen lights, flame thrower ignition and an analog thermometer.

The 30" has 640 sq in of total cooking area and the 34" has 780 sq in; both use three burners at the same 45,000 BTU. Heat zone separators, a briquette set, a rotisserie kit, a smoker box and Signature beef, poultry, vegetable and griddle grates are all optional. What the C-Series does not have is thermocouple safety valves or a spring-assisted hood.

Coyote CL-Series: Infinity Burners and the premium features

The CL-Series uses Coyote's cast Infinity Burners at 20,000 BTU each: four for 80,000 BTU on the 36" and five for 100,000 BTU on the 42", the most main-burner output in the lineup. It adds thermocouple safety valves that cut the gas if a burner flame goes out, a spring-assisted hood, removable heat zone separators, a continuously welded grill box and white backlit knobs.

It keeps stainless heat control grids under the grates rather than briquettes. An infrared sear burner and a rotisserie kit are optional. At $2,599 for the 36", the CL-Series is the lowest-priced Coyote with Infinity Burners, safety valves and a spring-assisted hood.

Coyote SL-Series: the flagship

The SL-Series mixes burner types. Alongside its 20,000 BTU Infinity Burners, every SL has an interchangeable 15,000 BTU RapidSear infrared burner for high-heat searing and a 15,000 BTU rear burner for the rotisserie. Ceramic briquettes sit under laser-cut stainless grates, and it has the same thermocouple safety valves, spring-assisted hood and heat zone separators as the CL-Series.

The look is the other difference: color-shifting backlit knobs and a light that projects the Coyote logo onto the ground in front of the grill. The rotisserie kit and smoker box come in the box. The SL-Series is also the only Coyote gas grill line with a 30", 36" and 42" size.

Compare the 36" sizes: the SL-Series 36" costs $1,100 more than the CL-Series 36". The CL has one more Infinity Burner, but the SL adds the infrared sear burner, the rear rotisserie burner, ceramic briquettes, the upgraded lighting and the included rotisserie kit and smoker box. Both have 875 sq in of cooking area.

Built-in or freestanding

Every Coyote gas grill can be built into an island or set on a Coyote cart, and we list each one both ways. The carts are sized to the grill: the C3C30CART fits the 30" C-Series and SL-Series, the C3S36CT and C3S42CT fit the 36" and 42" CL-Series and SL-Series, and the C3C34CT fits the 34" C-Series.

Add-on 30" 34" 36" 42"
Cart $799 $899 $949 $1,199
Insulated jacket $719 $789 $799 $929
Rotisserie kit (included on SL) $349 $349 $349 $349

Prices at Dreamwood Living as of October 2026. The infrared sear burner for the CL-Series and SL-Series is $159.

Planning the island

Two Coyote requirements are worth knowing before you build. First, the insulated jacket is required if combustible material is within 24" of the grill, so plan for it in a wood-framed island. Second, Coyote requires at least two vents in each island cabinet that has a gas connection; Coyote's stainless island vents come two to a box for $79.

Every Coyote gas grill lists a 120V power requirement for its lights, so plan an outlet near the island. The cutout dimensions are in the install guide linked on each product page; check them before you frame.

Coyote hybrid, combo, flat top, charcoal and pellet grills

Coyote also makes grills that do more than gas:

  • 50" Hybrid gas and charcoal grill ($4,899): a 40,000 BTU gas side and a charcoal and wood side with a crank-adjustable fuel tray, under two independent hoods
  • 50" Combo grill ($4,699): a 600 sq in Infinity Burner gas grill next to a 300 sq in flat top heated by two 17,000 BTU U-burners
  • 30" Flat top ($2,399): a 400 sq in griddle with two 17,000 BTU burners, two independent heat zones and thermocouple safety valves
  • 36" Charcoal grill ($2,729): a hand-crank adjustable charcoal tray, front pull-out charcoal drawer and twin dampers
  • Next Gen 28" ($3,599) and 36" pellet grills ($3,999): touchscreen controls, dual convection fans and three food probes

To finish the kitchen, Coyote makes single and double side burners, a 24" power burner, access doors, drawers and refrigerators. See the full line in our Coyote collection.

So which Coyote grill should you buy?

Choose the C-Series if you want a 304 stainless Coyote at the lowest price. The 30" at $1,549 suits a compact island, and the 34" adds cooking area for $650 more.

Choose the CL-Series if you want the most gas burner power for the money, safety valves and a spring-assisted hood. The 42" at $2,899 puts out 100,000 BTU across five Infinity Burners.

Choose the SL-Series if you want an infrared sear burner, rotisserie cooking and the upgraded lighting without buying add-ons. It is also the only line that pairs those features with a 30" size.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Coyote C-Series, CL-Series and SL-Series?

The C-Series uses cast I-burners and has no safety valves or spring-assisted hood. The CL-Series adds 20,000 BTU Infinity Burners, thermocouple safety valves, a spring-assisted hood, heat zone separators and backlit knobs. The SL-Series adds a RapidSear infrared burner, a rear rotisserie burner, ceramic briquettes, color-shifting lighting and an included rotisserie kit and smoker box.

What are Coyote Infinity Burners?

Infinity Burners are Coyote's cast stainless steel burners, rated 20,000 BTU each on the CL-Series and SL-Series. The C-Series uses cast stainless I-burners instead.

Which Coyote grill has the most BTU?

The SL-Series 42" has the highest total at 110,000 BTU, counting its sear and rear burners. The CL-Series 42" has the most from its main burners alone: five Infinity Burners for 100,000 BTU.

Do Coyote grills need electricity?

Every Coyote gas grill lists a 120V power requirement for its lights. Plan a grounded outlet near the island; check the install guide on the product page for the details.

Do I need the Coyote insulated jacket?

Coyote's product pages say the insulated jacket is required if combustible material is within 24" of the grill. In a fully non-combustible island it is not required.

What warranty do Coyote grills have?

Coyote's warranty document, linked on each product page, gives a limited lifetime warranty on the stainless steel frame and housing and the stainless burners, 5 years on cooking grids, 2 years on flavorizer bars and electric and plastic components, and 1 year on ignition systems and valves. It covers residential use, and labor is not covered. Check the current warranty for full terms.

Do Coyote grills come in natural gas and propane?

Yes. Every Coyote gas grill in this guide is sold in a natural gas or a liquid propane version, and conversion kits are sold separately.
