The Superior DRL3545 is a 45" linear direct vent gas fireplace that comes ready to run: a factory-installed blower with six speeds, floor lighting with six settings and a multi-function remote are all standard. The glass viewing area is 40" wide and 16-3/4" tall, and it comes as the DRL3545TEN for natural gas (23,000 Btu/hr high, 16,000 low) or the DRL3545TEP for propane (21,000 high, 17,000 low).
It is a sealed-combustion unit, so it pulls combustion air from outside and sends exhaust out through the same 4-1/2" x 7-1/2" Superior vent pipe. The electronic IPI/CPI ignition runs on house power with four AA batteries as backup, so the burner keeps running when the power goes out; the blower waits for power to come back. Platinum crushed glass ships in the box, and a 4-3/4" non-combustible fireboard keeps drywall off the parts of the face that run hot.
From there you can change the look with a black porcelain liner, a matte black or stainless surround, reflective black or blue glass, a driftwood log set or river rock, and add the HeatFlo kit if a TV is going on the wall above. If you don't need the blower, lights and remote, the Superior DRL2045 is the same 45" size without them. The DRL3500 series also comes in 35" (DRL3535) and 55" (DRL3555).

What does the DRL3545 remote control?
The included multi-function remote turns the fireplace on and off, runs it in thermostat mode, and sets the flame height, blower speed and floor lighting, each with six settings. Its receiver mounts on the wall next to the fireplace and has an ON/OFF/REMOTE slider, so you can still run the fireplace if the remote is misplaced.
Will it work during a power outage?
Yes. Four AA batteries in the remote receiver run the burner when the power is out. The blower won't run until power returns.
Can I put a TV above it?
Yes, if the shelf or TV mount is at least 52" above the base of the fireplace with a rigid Secure Vent elbow (54" with Secure Flex) and the TV stays within its maker's temperature rating. The HeatFlo kit lowers the heat on that wall by sending warm air out a register near the ceiling, with no blower or power. Our guide to fireplace heat management explains how these kits work.
Can I change it from natural gas to propane, or the other way?
Yes, with Superior's conversion kit: GCK-S-L3545NP for natural gas to propane or GCK-S-L3545PN for propane to natural gas. In a manufactured home, the fireplace may only run on the gas shown on its rating plate.
What's the difference between the DRL3545 and the DRL2045?
Both are 45" Superior linear direct vent fireplaces with the same framing. The DRL2045 leaves out the blower, floor lighting and remote, ships with reflective black glass and a 2-3/4" fireboard, and runs at a lower input (18,000 Btu/hr high on natural gas). It needs a wall switch, thermostat or remote added, and it needs less mantel clearance.
Can it go in a bedroom?
Yes. The DRL3545 is listed for bedrooms and for aftermarket, permanently located manufactured homes in the USA, where local codes allow.
What's the difference between IPI and CPI?
In IPI mode the pilot lights only when the fireplace is turned on. CPI keeps the pilot lit, which the manual suggests if the burner has trouble establishing draft. The DRL3545 remote switches between the two. Our millivolt vs electronic ignition guide covers pilot gas use.
Superior's 20 Year Limited Warranty covers the DRL3545 against defects in materials and workmanship:
Vent components, trim and paint are not covered. The warranty is for the original owner of a fireplace installed in the US or Canada. Full terms are in the warranty certificate.
