The Superior DWLS-VFL45 is the 5-piece driftwood log set Superior makes for its 45" VRL3000 linear vent-free gas fireplace, the Superior VRL3045. The logs lean against the back of the firebox and lie across the crushed glass bed for a driftwood look along the linear flame.
It's optional, and it's the only log set approved for this fireplace; a vent-free fireplace can't take extra logs or ornaments of any other kind. Superior's river rock kit can go around the logs. The 55" VRL3055 uses the DWLS-VFL55.

Which fireplace does it fit?
Only the Superior VRL3045. The 55" model uses the DWLS-VFL55.
Can I add river rock?
Yes, the River Rock, 25 Piece Kit (RIVROCK-1PK) can go on the glass around the logs. Keep both logs and rocks away from the burner flames.
Can I add other decorations?
No. Superior says not to add extra logs or ornaments such as pine cones, vermiculite, glowing embers, rock wool or volcanic stone to this vent-free fireplace; only the media and accessories in its manual are approved.
Is it required?
No. The fireplace runs on its crushed glass bed alone; the logs change the look.
How do I clean the logs?
Wait until they're cool, lift them out carefully (fiber logs get fragile once they've been fired) and clean off carbon with a vacuum or a soft brush, such as a paintbrush. Put each piece back exactly where the instructions show; logs out of position cause carbon build-up and change how the fireplace burns.
What if I see soot on the logs or glass?
Soot almost always means a flame is touching a log. Turn the fireplace off, let it cool, and check every piece against the placement instructions so nothing sits in the flames or over the burner ports. If it still soots with the logs in the right place, have a qualified service technician check the burner's air adjustment.
The log set is covered under Superior's 20 Year Limited Warranty on the Superior VRL3045 it's installed in, which treats logs this way:
Wear and tear, misuse and faulty installation aren't covered, and Superior says using a log set that isn't approved for the fireplace voids the fireplace's warranty. The warranty is for the original owner of a fireplace installed in the US or Canada. Full terms are in the warranty certificate.
