What size opening do I need to frame for the Altitude X 42?
Frame a minimum rough opening of 42-3/4" wide by 46-5/8" high by 19" deep. Always confirm against the installation manual for your specific model and venting configuration before cutting, and never let framing or finishing material encroach inside the fireplace’s finishing flange.
Can the Napoleon Altitude X Series 42" be controlled without the eFIRE app?
Yes. The fireplace includes a ProFlame II remote for everyday operation. The eFIRE controller is also included, and the app is an additional convenience for control from a mobile device, not a requirement.
What is the gas input of this model?
The AX42-2 has a maximum input of 38,000 BTU/hr on natural gas or 36,500 BTU/hr on propane. It is certified as a vented decorative gas appliance.
What does the optional heat management system do?
The optional Dynamic Heat Control (DHC) or Ducted Heat Management (DHM) system reduces the required clearances to mantels and wall-mounted televisions, giving more flexibility in how the fireplace is positioned relative to surrounding materials and electronics.

Napoleon products are designed with superior components and materials and assembled by trained craftsmen who take great pride in their work. Once assembled, the complete appliance is thoroughly inspected by a qualified and authorized installer, service agency, or supplier before packing to ensure that you, the customer, receive the quality product that you expect from Napoleon. (Registered under the world recognized ISO 9001 : 2015).
Gas Fireplaces – President’s Lifetime Limited Warranty
The following are warranted against defects for as long as you own the appliance: combustion chamber, heat exchanger, stainless / steel burner, PHAZER® logs and embers, rocks, ceramic glass (thermal breakage only), gold plated parts against tarnishing, porcelainized enameled components and aluminum extrusion trims.* During the first 10 years Napoleon will repair or replace defective parts covered by the lifetime warranty free of charge. From 10 years to life, Napoleon will provide replacement parts at 50% of the current retail price.
Electrical (110V and millivolt) components and wearable parts are covered during the first year: blowers, gas valves, thermal switches, switches, wiring, remote controls, ignitors, gaskets and pilot assemblies.* Labour related to warranty repair is covered during the first year (not applicable to gas log sets) and must be done through an authorized Napoleon dealer.
