Vented or vent-free?
Decide this first, because the logs and burners do not cross over.
Vented sets are for a wood-burning fireplace with a working flue, burned with the damper open. Most of the choice is here: every Classic, Designer and Charred Series log set is vented.
Vent-free sets are made to burn without venting through a flue, and use a burner with an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) safety pilot. A vent-free burner is certified only with the log sets made for it, so you cannot put vented logs, or another burner's logs, on one. Vent-free gas appliances are not permitted everywhere, so check your local code before you order.
Vented burner systems
| Burner | Sizes | Natural gas input | Logs it is listed for |
|---|---|---|---|
| G4 Glowing Ember | 12" to 30" | 25,000 – 90,000 BTU | Classic, Designer and Charred Series log sets up to 30". The basic match-lit burner. |
| G45 Triple T | 16/19" to 36"; stainless steel version to 60" | 40,000 – 110,000 BTU (16/19" to 36") | Classic, Designer and Charred Series log sets. The widest choice of sizes and controls. |
| G46 | 18/20", 24", 30" | 40,000 – 65,000 BTU | Classic, Designer and Charred Series styles Real Fyre lists for it, in 18", 24" and 30". |
| G52 Radiant Fyre | 18/20", 24/30" | 46,000 – 55,000 BTU | Charred Evergreen Oak, Charred Evergreen Split Oak, Colonial Oak and Burnt Aspen. Includes a radiant stainless steel booster grid. |
| G31 3-Tiered | 18/20", 24/30", 33/39" | 55,000 – 75,000 BTU | Mountain Crest Oak and Mountain Crest Split Oak, plus seven Charred Series styles. Includes a reflective front panel. |
| P45 pan | 18", 24", 30" | 43,000 – 84,000 BTU | Shoreline Designer Oak and Shoreline Driftwood logs, Fyre Spheres, or Fyre Glass and Fyre Gems. |
Each log set's product page lists the exact burner model numbers for that style and size, and each burner page gives the minimum fireplace dimensions. Burners are built for natural gas or propane and are not field convertible, so order the fuel you have.

For a contemporary look without logs, the G21 is a vent-free stainless steel burner that burns through Fyre Glass or Fyre Gems, and the G23 is a vent-free burner made for 4" Fyre Spheres. The vented PB pan burner does the same job for fire glass in a vented fireplace. The glass or spheres are ordered separately.
Choosing the controls
Most burners are listed several times, once for each way of lighting and controlling them:
- Match lit — no valve or pilot on the burner; you light it by hand and control it from the fireplace gas valve. Natural gas only: propane cannot be match lit.
- Manual safety valve with standing pilot — a knob on the burner lights the pilot and turns the burner on and off.
- On/off remote — a remote valve with a transmitter and receiver included.
- Variable remote — turns the burner on and off and adjusts the flame height.
- Electronic valve — electronic ignition with a remote.
Pilot kits, valves and remote transmitter and receiver sets are also listed on their own.
See-thru and outdoor fireplaces
For a fireplace open on both sides, order a see-thru log set and a see-thru burner. See-thru sets are listed in the Classic, Designer and Charred Series and for the G9 and G18 vent-free burners.
For an outdoor fireplace, the G45 Triple T comes as a stainless steel outdoor burner system and the G52 Radiant Fyre has outdoor versions, both for vented log sets. A stainless steel grate for outdoor fireplaces is listed separately. The ODG15 is a stainless steel ventless burner certified for outdoor fireplaces only; it takes the 24" and 30" Foothill Oak, Foothill Split Oak, Driftwood and Lakeshore log sets.
Real Fyre gas log questions
Do Real Fyre gas logs come with a burner?
Not on this site. Each Real Fyre log set is listed as the logs only, and the burner system is a separate product in the matching size. A vented burner system such as the G45 Triple T includes the burner, a custom grate, glowing embers, a connector kit, and sand for natural gas or vermiculite for propane. The log set's product page lists the burner model numbers that fit it, so you can add the right one to the same order.
What is the difference between the Real Fyre G4, G45 and G46 burners?
All three are vented burners for Classic, Designer and Charred Series logs. The G4 Glowing Ember is the basic match-lit burner in sizes from 12 to 30 inches. The G45 Triple T comes in the most sizes and is offered match lit or with a factory-installed valve, from a manual safety valve to an electronic valve with remote. The G46 comes with a safety pilot kit and a piezo igniter in 18/20, 24 and 30 inch sizes.
Can I use vented Real Fyre logs on a vent-free burner?
No. A vent-free burner is certified only with the log sets made for it, placed the way the manual shows. The G9, for example, takes the Golden Oak Designer, Split Oak and Meadow Oak vent-free sets and nothing else. Vented logs go on a vented burner in a fireplace with a working flue.
What size Real Fyre gas logs do I need?
Size the set to the firebox, not to the opening. Each burner page has a table of minimum fireplace dimensions — front width, rear width, depth and height — for every size, and the set has to fit inside those with room to be centered. Measure the front width, the rear width and the depth of your firebox, then choose a size whose minimums your firebox meets.
Can Real Fyre gas logs be used in an outdoor fireplace?
Yes, with an outdoor burner. The G45 Triple T is offered as a stainless steel outdoor burner system and the G52 Radiant Fyre has outdoor versions, both for vented log sets, and the ODG15 is a ventless stainless steel burner certified for outdoor fireplaces only, for the 24 and 30 inch Foothill Oak, Foothill Split Oak, Driftwood and Lakeshore sets.
