Dimplex Multi-Fire 36" Slim Linear Electric Fireplace

The Dimplex Multi-Fire 36" Slim Linear Electric Fireplace (model PLF3614-XS, Dimplex order number X-PLF3614-XS) is built for walls that will not take a deep firebox. It needs a framed opening only 4" deep — including the drywall — so it goes flush into a standard 2x4 stud wall with no furring out, no bump-out and no structural work. If you cannot frame at all, a wall-mount bracket is in the box.

That slimness does not cost you the fire. Multi-Fire® SL produces large, high-contrast flames with a multi-layered colour effect, and mirror technology behind the glass creates an illusion of depth the physical box does not have.

Will It Fit? Rough Opening

A word on that framing width, because Dimplex has two versions of it in circulation. An earlier printing of the installation guide gives 37"; the current printing and the 3-part architectural spec both give 36 1/2", which is what we have published. 36 1/2" is also the figure that makes sense against the 37 1/4" trim, leaving 3/8" of overlap each side. If your installer is working from a printed manual showing 37", call us before cutting.

Electrical Requirements

Note the 12.5 A draw against a 15 A circuit — this needs its own dedicated circuit, not a shared one. We stock the PLFXSPLUG cord kit if you would rather plug it in than hardwire.

Clearances

That last figure is the one people ask about when planning a TV above the fireplace — 7" is a close measurement, better than most. Check your TV manufacturer's own ambient temperature limit as well.

This is an indoor appliance. Dimplex's guide states it is not to be used outdoors, and it must be installed so water cannot enter.
