The Empire attic insulation shield (model number WB14VAI) is part of Empire's 14 inch chimney system for the Blackburn 54 wood firebox built with the 14 inch chimney (model WB54FB0F). Empire's price list marks the 14 inch parts as the venting for the Blackburn 54 before its summer 2026 change; the current Blackburn 54 (WB5412FB0F) uses the 12 inch parts.

Installation Notes

• When required: an attic insulation shield must be installed whenever insulation or other combustible material could touch the chimney. Do not pack insulation between the chimney and the shield.
• Installation: wrap the shield around the chimney, screw it into a tube, bend the tabs as the manual shows and rest it on the ceiling firestop below.
• Offsets: do not offset the chimney inside the insulation shield.
• Clearance: keep a 2 inch air space between the chimney and insulation or other combustible materials along its whole run.

Empire's wood firebox manuals give venting parts a limited 10-year parts warranty against defects in workmanship or material, for the original purchaser. Travel, diagnostic, freight, removal and reinstallation costs are not covered. Full terms are in the warranty section of the installation manual.
