Empire 14" Diameter Firestop Assembly for Wood Firebox

The Empire ceiling firestop assembly (model number WB14VFS) is part of Empire's 14 inch chimney system for the Blackburn 54 wood firebox built with the 14 inch chimney (model WB54FB0F). Empire's price list marks the 14 inch parts as the venting for the Blackburn 54 before its summer 2026 change; the current Blackburn 54 (WB5412FB0F) uses the 12 inch parts.

Specifications

Installation Notes

• Where required: a ceiling firestop is required wherever the chimney passes through a ceiling or floor. In a chase, use one at each floor level or every 10 ft of clear space.
• Framed opening: 21 x 21 inch, framed with the same size lumber as the joists.
• Sealing: do not seal between the firestop and the chimney except where the chimney enters the attic or leaves the warm air envelope of the home, and then only with 600°F sealant.
• Insulated ceilings: use an attic insulation shield where the ceiling above is insulated.

Warranty

Empire's wood firebox manuals give venting parts a limited 10-year parts warranty against defects in workmanship or material, for the original purchaser. Travel, diagnostic, freight, removal and reinstallation costs are not covered. Full terms are in the warranty section of the installation manual.
