HPC 25x8" Linear Interlink Torpedo Pan Match Lit Fire Pit Insert

The HPC 25x8" Linear Interlink Torpedo Pan Match Lit Fire Pit Insert is a drop-in gas burner for a custom linear fire pit: a 25" x 8" 304 stainless steel linear pan with a Torpedo burner, rated at 65,000 BTU with a match lit key valve. It needs no electricity. Model numbers are TOR-MLFPK25X8-L-FLEX-NG for natural gas and TOR-MLFPK25X8-L-FLEX-LP for propane on fixed piping. A small tank version (TOR-MLFPK25X8-L-FLEX-LP-ST) runs from a 20 lb or 30 lb propane cylinder at 65,000 BTU.

It is certified for outdoor use.

What to Order With It

The insert comes with the key valve and a 36" gas flex line; the small tank version also comes with the regulator and hose assembly and a tank mounting bracket.

Required (choose one):

• HPC 1/4" Decorative Fire Pit Glass - 10 lb. Box (FPGLBLACK, FPGLCLEAR and 8 other colors): cover the burner with 1/4" to 1/2" of glass
• HPC Black Lava Rock Nuggets for Fire Pits - 1/2 Cubic Foot (657): only deep enough to cover the burner
• HPC Black Rolled Lava Stones for Fire Pits - 1/2 Cubic Foot Bag (857S or 857M): only deep enough to cover the burner

Required for the small tank version:

• A 20 lb or 30 lb propane cylinder with a QCC1 valve and overfill protection device, bought locally

Dimensions

HPC's drawing gives the pan size and a recommended enclosure size, with 10" of enclosure past each end of the pan, but no cutout or mounting details, so check the drawing with your installer and contact us before you build the opening.

Installation Notes

• Outdoor use only, installed above grade where water drains away.
• Set the pan at least 2" below the top of the enclosure to protect the flame from wind, and let the pan carry the weight, not the valve.
• Venting: an enclosure needs at least two vents of 18 sq in each on opposite sides. In a copper, concrete or metal bowl, use two 9 sq in vents on opposite sides, or raise the bowl at least 3/4" off the surface with a 6" hole in the bottom.
• Leave at least 2" below the valve for air and drainage, and don't fill the space around it with gravel, rock or concrete.
• Clearances: 36" from the sides to structures or combustibles (12" to noncombustible materials) and 84" overhead.
• Put a gas shutoff on the outside of the enclosure, and keep the fire pit covered when it isn't in use.
• Small tank version: keep the propane cylinder in its own ventilated enclosure at least 54" from the fire pit, secured with the supplied bracket, and use only the supplied regulator and hose.
• Use only lava rock or decorative glass over the burner. Propane installs with glass must be checked for back pressure with the media in place.
• The gas connections should be installed and leak-checked by a qualified gas installer, and checked again every year.

Warranty

HPC limited warranty: lifetime on the stainless steel burner, and 5 years on the stainless steel pan for residential use (1 year for commercial use). The warranty covers parts and labor at HPC on items returned with an HPC return authorization. It does not cover installation or maintenance labor, or damage from overheating, modification or misuse.
