HPC 19" Round Bowl Pan Fire Pit Insert With Electronic Ignition

The HPC 19" Round Bowl Pan Fire Pit Insert is a drop-in gas burner for a custom fire pit or fire bowl: a 19" 304 stainless steel bowl pan with a 12" Penta burner, rated at 65,000 BTU and lit by hot surface electronic ignition. Choose On/Off control or Hi/Lo control with a Bluetooth remote and phone app, then 120VAC or 24VAC power and natural gas or propane. On/Off model numbers are PENTA19EI-NG/120VAC, PENTA19EI-LP/120VAC, PENTA19EI-NG/24VAC and PENTA19EI-LP/24VAC. Hi/Lo model numbers are PENTA19EI-HI/LO-NG/120VAC, PENTA19EI-HI/LO-LP/120VAC, PENTA19EI-HI/LO-NG/24VAC and PENTA19EI-HI/LO-LP/24VAC.

It is CSA certified for outdoor use and runs on fixed gas piping only, so it can't be connected to a small propane tank.

Key Features

  • 19" round bowl pan and 12" Penta burner, both 304 stainless steel
  • 65,000 BTU maximum input on natural gas or propane
  • Hot surface electronic ignition with flame sensing, plus an automatic gas shutoff if the valve box goes over 190°F
  • Hi/Lo models: Bluetooth remote and phone app, with the low setting about 40% below full input
  • On/Off models: run from a wall switch and can work with a timer, a whole-house system or an optional remote
  • 120VAC models draw 1 amp; 24VAC models run from a separate 24VAC, 100 W power supply
  • 24" gas flex line included
  • Approved for residential and commercial outdoor use

What to Order With It

The insert comes with a 24" gas flex line, and Hi/Lo models also come with the Bluetooth remote, antenna bracket and antenna extension cable.

Pan Depth 2-1/2"
Burner (B) 12"
Depth Below Pan Top (C) 7-3/4" (+/- 1/2")

Installation Notes

  • Outdoor use only, installed above grade where water drains away.
  • Set the pan at least 2" below the top of the enclosure to protect the flame from wind, and let the pan carry the weight, not the valve box.
  • Venting: an enclosure needs at least two vents of 18 sq in each on opposite sides. In a copper, concrete or metal bowl, use two 9 sq in vents on opposite sides, or raise the bowl at least 3/4" off the surface with a 6" hole in the bottom.
  • Leave at least 2" below the valve box for air and drainage, and don't fill the space around it with gravel, rock or concrete.
  • Clearances: 36" from the sides to structures or combustibles (12" to noncombustible materials) and 84" overhead.
  • Put a gas shutoff on the outside of the enclosure and a wall switch for safety shutoff. On Hi/Lo models the antenna mounts outside the enclosure.
  • Use only lava rock or decorative glass over the burner, and don't cover the vents of the pilot's blowout box. Propane installs with glass must be checked for back pressure with the media in place.
  • The gas connections should be installed and leak-checked by a qualified gas installer, and checked again every year.

Warranty

HPC limited warranty for residential use: lifetime on the stainless steel burner, 5 years on the stainless steel pan and valve box, 3 years on the electronics and gas valve, and 2 years on the pilot assembly. For commercial use the pan, valve box, electronics, gas valve and pilot assembly are covered for 1 year. The warranty covers parts and labor at HPC on items returned with an HPC return authorization. It does not cover installation or maintenance labor, or damage from overheating, modification or misuse. The full terms are in the warranty section of the installation manual below.
