Empire Carol Rose 30" Outdoor Harmony Burner, Intermittent Ignition
The Empire Carol Rose 30" outdoor Harmony burner with intermittent ignition control (model numbers ONI30N for natural gas and ONI30P for propane) is a stainless steel gas log burner that turns an outdoor fireplace or firebox into a gas fire. It is rated 50,000 Btu/hr and is for outdoor use only.
Empire designed its Wildwood refractory log set for this burner; the 30" set is ordered separately. Intermittent ignition lights the burner from the included wireless remote, so there is no standing pilot.

Installation Requirements
Location: outdoor use only, installed in an outdoor fireplace or firebox. A screened porch is allowed if it has at least 96 sq ft of floor area, a ceiling at least 92" high, at least two screened walls with screens reaching at least 6'6" high on the side walls, and at least 64 sq ft of screen area.
Firebox: the fireplace or firebox must be at least 32" rear width, 15 9/16" deep, 24 3/16" high (front width: see the installation manual). If it has glass doors, use the door frame opening as the front width, and keep the doors open whenever the burner runs.
Mounting: center the burner in the firebox so the grate clears the screen, and anchor it to the firebox floor with the screws provided.
Moisture: the burner must sit where water drains off easily. Empire recommends a weather cover or bi-fold glass doors to protect it.
Gas line: the burner needs its own manual gas shutoff valve nearby (a T-handle valve in Massachusetts); a flexible connector can be no longer than 3 ft in Massachusetts.
Power: the ignition runs on its battery pack; no 120V connection is needed.
Installation: must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes. Empire states that its gas hearth products must be installed and serviced by NFI-certified gas specialists in the U.S. In Massachusetts the installation must be done by a licensed plumber or gas fitter.
