-
Facing: the non-combustible board supplied with the fireplace must cover the area above and beside the opening as the manual shows (22 1/2" above for the clean-face finish, 20 1/2" for the flush finish).
-
Mantel: follow the mantel chart in the installation manual; a combustible mantel can project 2" at 18" above the fireplace opening, up to 12" at 28".
-
Side wall: at least 6" from the fireplace to a perpendicular combustible side wall.
-
Floor: on carpet, tile or any combustible floor other than wood, set the fireplace on a metal or wood panel the full width and depth of the unit.
-
Room size: the room must be an unconfined space of at least 50 cubic feet per 1,000 Btu/hr of input (adjoining rooms count only if there is no door between them), or extra combustion air must be provided as the manual describes. With an input above 10,000 Btu/hr, it may not be installed in a bedroom or bathroom. Check local codes before you buy; some areas restrict vent-free appliances.
-
Installation: must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes.
-
Power: run a 120V supply to the junction box, entering on the left side; the intermittent pilot uses the included AC adapter.
