Dimplex Vital Sense Linear Electric Fireplace
The Dimplex Vital Sense Linear Electric Fireplace comes in three sizes — 50" (SEN50), 60" (SEN60) and 74" (SEN74), Dimplex order numbers 500005119, 500005120 and 500005121. It is an edgeless design: the frame is pared back to almost nothing so that what you see is flame, and the viewing area runs nearly the full width of the appliance.
Thirteen flame colours, three flame speeds and three brightness settings mean it will sit as convincingly in a warm traditional room as in a cool modern one, and the Glen Dimplex Connect app puts all of it on your phone.
Check Your Wall Depth First
The Vital Sense needs a framed opening 9" deep. That is deeper than the appliance itself, which is under 7" — the extra space is there so heated air can circulate behind the unit, and it is not optional.
What it means in practice: a 2x8 wall is not enough. A 2x8 gives you 7 1/4" of actual depth. You need a 2x10 (9 1/4" actual), a furred-out 2x6, or a bump-out. If you are choosing this fireplace off a plan, get the wall depth settled before anything else — it is the most common reason a linear fireplace has to be sent back.

Note how little frame there is: on the 50" you get 47" of glass in a 50 3/8" appliance. That is what "edgeless" buys you, and it is why this line looks wider than its size on the wall.
Dimplex publishes the appliance width as 50 1/4" in the current price list and 50 3/8" on the technical specification sheet; likewise 74 3/16" against 74 1/4" on the 74". The spread is 1/8" or less and the framed opening is unaffected — we have published the specification sheet's figures, which are the larger. If you are finishing tight to the appliance rather than to the opening, measure the unit when it arrives.

At 12.5 A against a 15 A breaker this needs its own dedicated circuit, not a shared one. And as with most of the Dimplex linear range, the heater is the same 1,500 W in all three sizes — going up to the 74" buys a wider fire, not a warmer room.
Installation and Clearances
The Vital Sense installs two ways: wall mounted using the included brackets, which needs no framing at all, or recessed into the opening above for a flush built-in look.
Dimplex's specification sheets direct you to the owner's manual for clearances to combustibles, walls and finishes rather than printing figures, and they do not publish a ceiling clearance, a floor height or a maximum mounting height for this line. We are not going to invent any of those. The one hard number they do give is the 1/2" maximum overhang for decorative finish material. If you are planning a TV above the fireplace or finishing tight around it, call us and we will get a position confirmed with Dimplex before you build.

About that warranty. One year is the shortest term Dimplex offers. Most of their range is two years and the Ignite lines run to five. We would rather say so plainly here than have you find out later.
