Dimplex Revillusion 42" Built-In Electric Firebox, Neutral Brick

The Dimplex Revillusion 42" Built-In Electric Firebox, Neutral Brick (model REV42-NB, Dimplex order number 500005139) is the largest firebox in the Revillusion range. It uses the patented Revillusion® flame effect and a translucent panel to make the flames appear to rise from the logs themselves rather than from behind them, and at this size the effect has room to read properly across the whole opening.

The Revillusion accepts three supply voltages — 120 V, 208 V or 240 V — so the same firebox can be specified for a house or a commercial fit-out and its heat output sized to the room.

Will It Fit? Rough Opening

Frame to these dimensions. Dimplex is specific that the finished surround must be cut to the framing width and height precisely:

At 89 lb this is a two-person lift into the opening — worth knowing before the delivery arrives.

The front of the firebox must not be recessed behind the finished wall. Setting it back blocks the airflow out of the heater. The flange sits proud of the framed opening by design.

Electrical Requirements

This is the decision to make with your electrician before the wall closes. The firebox is the same in all three cases; only the supply and the heat output change.

Going to 240 V nearly doubles the heat for the same firebox — worth knowing if this is meant to be a real heat source rather than an effect.

Clearances

The firebox must never be in direct contact with building insulation or a vapour barrier — that is the clearance that matters most on this model, and it is easy to miss when a framer is insulating around a firebox in an exterior wall.

This is an indoor appliance. Dimplex's guide states it is not to be used outdoors. In a bathroom it must be on a GFCI-protected circuit and sited where it cannot fall into a tub or basin.

2 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY. Dimplex warrants this product free from defects in material and workmanship for 2 years from the date of first purchase. In-home warranty service is included for the first year; the second year is a replacement-of-parts warranty without in-home service. Proof of purchase is required.
