Dimplex Revillusion 20" Plug-In Electric Log Set - RLG20

Dimplex Revillusion 20" Plug-In Electric Log Set

The Dimplex Revillusion 20" Plug-In Electric Log Set (model RLG20, Dimplex order number X-RLG20) brings a disused masonry fireplace back to life without a builder. You set it into the opening, plug it into an ordinary outlet, and the hearth works again — no chimney relining, no gas, no wood.

What separates the Revillusion effect from an ordinary log set is where the flame appears to come from. The flames rise from within the logs rather than behind them, and the ThruView™ full-depth design leaves the back of your fireplace visible through the fire the way an open grate does. In a real masonry firebox, with real brick behind it, that is a convincing thing to look at.

Will It Fit? Measure Your Fireplace First

This is the only question that matters with a log set, and it is the one to settle before you order.

Depth is what catches people out. Plenty of older fireplaces are wide enough and tall enough but shallower than 14", particularly shallow Victorian grates and prefabricated metal fireboxes. Measure front to back at the floor of the firebox before you order.

If your opening is larger, the 25" RLG25 fills it better — a log set that is too small for its opening looks lost.

Features

• Revillusion® Flame Effect
Larger, brighter and more random flames that appear to rise from inside the logs.
• Realogs® Plus Log Set
A full grate of life-size hardwood-cast logs, tiered for depth.
• ThruView™ Full-Depth Design
See through the flames to the back of your own fireplace.
• 360° Lighting
Flickering light around the log set, not just behind it.
• Adjustable Brightness and Flicker
Tune the effect to the room and the time of day.
• Flame-Only and Heat-Only Modes
Both run independently, so the fire works in July.
• Multi-Function Remote
Full control from across the room.

Electrical and Heat

At 12.5 A this uses most of a 15 A circuit. If the outlet serving your fireplace also feeds a television and lamps, have it checked before you rely on the heater.

This is an indoor appliance. The owner's manual states "Do not use this log set outdoors." Do not cover or obstruct the front.

Specifications

Note the warranty. The RLG20 carries 12 months; the larger RLG25 carries two years. That is Dimplex's own distinction between the two, not a typo on our part, and it is worth weighing if you are choosing between them.

Accessory

Dimplex makes a Revillusion ash mat, REM-KIT, that sits under the log set to complete the look of a real hearth. We do not currently stock it, but we can order one in — ask us when you place your order.
