The American Made Grills Alturi U-Tube Series 42" Built-In Gas Grill (model number ALT42T) is built in the USA from #304 stainless steel for an outdoor kitchen island. Three 26,000 BTU stainless steel U-tube burners put 78,000 BTUs under the grates, and a 12,000 BTU infrared rear burner works with the rotisserie kit that comes with the grill.

Lift the double-lined, spring-assisted hood and you have 1,083 square inches of cooking space, including the warming rack, with room for about 31 burgers. Angle-mounted interior halogen lights and LED front panel lights keep the grates and controls in view after dark.

The Alturi 42": Even Gas Heat and a Rotisserie on Day One

Ceramic briquette trays sit between the U-tube burners and the 9 mm stainless steel grates. They catch drippings, turn them into flavorful smoke and spread the heat so the grates cook evenly from side to side. Stainless heat zone separators keep each burner's heat in its own zone, so you can sear on one side and hold food on the other.

Each burner lights with flame thrower ignition, with a flash tube as backup. The rotisserie kit holds up to 100 lb, and the 12,000 BTU infrared rear burner turns it into a slow roaster for whole chickens, pork loin and prime rib.

Alturi or Estate Freedom 42"?

The two are close on paper. Both run on 26,000 BTU stainless steel U-tube burners with a 12,000 BTU infrared rear burner, and both give you 1,083 square inches of cooking area. The Alturi comes with its rotisserie kit and uses 9 mm grates. The Estate Freedom uses 8 mm square grates and takes AMG's Freedom to Choose upgrades, such as red brass burners, a sear burner, faceplates and designer grates.
