Designed to meet the needs of smaller spaces, the Osburn 1700 Wood Burning Stove is a faithful copy of the recently redefined 2000 model. This firebox combines robustness and elegance to allow you to enjoy your heating experience with confidence. This unit is equipped with high-density bricks, a cast iron door, a built-in ash pan, a top heat deflector that redirects heat to the front of the unit, and side panels to reduce its clearances.
Choose your favorite version by customizing the unit to suit your style: refined door overlays, new leg designs, glass ash lip; significant innovations for the most seasoned experts. At 2.4 g/h of particulate emissions the 1700 is EPA 2020 certified, and its 68% HHV overall efficiency puts it comfortably inside the high-efficiency band — so it qualifies wherever a certified clean-burning appliance is required.
The 1700 Wood Stove needs a door overlay and a base to be complete. Choose from each required group below.

Osburn publishes these as lettered dimensions A to F that are defined on the clearance drawings in the installation manual, not in words — so read this table with the manual open rather than assuming which letter is which wall. For planning, the controlling figure is the smallest: 10" with a single-wall connector pipe, 6" with a double-wall connector pipe (USA). The 1700's optional side panels reduce clearances further.
| Dimension | Single wall (USA) | Double wall (USA) |
| A | 13" (330 mm) | 6" (152 mm) |
| B | 10" (254 mm) | 10" (254 mm) |
| C | 12" (305 mm) | 6" (152 mm) |
| D | 16 1/2" (419 mm) | 9 1/2" (241 mm) |
| E | 19" (483 mm) | 19" (483 mm) |
| F | 20 3/4" (527 mm) | 14 3/4" (375 mm) |
Approved with a fresh air intake and a double-wall connector pipe. Same lettered dimensions:
| A | 8" (203 mm) |
| B | 14 1/2" (368 mm) |
| C | 12" (305 mm) |
| D | 11 1/2" (292 mm) |
| E | 23 1/2" (597 mm) |
| F | 20 3/4" (527 mm) |
On a combustible floor a non-combustible pad must extend 16" (406 mm) in front of the door opening and 8" (203 mm) to each side and to the rear. The installation guide below gives the full pad dimensions for each configuration, plus the alcove and lowered-ceiling clearance sets.
