Empire 24" Flint Hill Ceramic Fiber Gas Log Set with Vent-Free Contour Burner
Empire 24" Flint Hill Ceramic Fiber Gas Log Set with Vent-Free Contour Burner
Empire Vent-Free Burners are approved for use in any certified vent-free firebox. They may be also installed in an existing wood-burning fireplace, with the damper closed, to operate as a vent-free heating system.
A vent-free Millivolt Loft Burner may also be installed as a decorative appliance in a vented fireplace to provide ambiance and light – but without the heat. In a vented installation, the burner cannot be operated by thermostat, and the flue damper must be blocked open. A damper clamp is included with all Loft burners.
Traditional Vent-Free Log Sets
From the curve of each log to the height of the stack, Empire Log Set complements the burner pattern for a lifelike fire. Complete the illusion with one of our optional Ember Bed Kits and Platinum Glowing Embers.
Empire Vent-Free log set creates a consistent, controlled heat – without dangerous flare-ups or chilling die-downs. These gas logs warm your room quickly and efficiently while using about half the energy of a vented gas log.
Vent-Free Contour Burners
These systems combine the burner and log set into one package. Because they require a minimum of just 12 inches firebox depth, these compact systems fit easily into most fireplaces.
- 18, 24 and 30-inch Vent-Free Burners – up to 40,000 BTUs
- Millivolt (VFDR), Manual (VFDM), and Thermostat (VFDT) models
- Special 10,000 Btu Millivolt model for bedroom applications (where allowed by code)
Flint Hill Log Set
The Flint Hill Log Set features richly detailed, hand-painted Ceramic Fiber logs mounted atop our Vent-Free Contour Burner. Includes glowing embers to add to the illusion of a real wood fire at any heat setting. This competitively priced log/burner is ideal for existing fireplaces and fireboxes and for new construction.

Installation Requirements
- Approved for: Installation only in a solid-fuel burning masonry or UL 127 factory-built fireplace, or in a listed ventless firebox enclosure. Do not install in a factory-built fireplace whose instructions say it has not been tested with, or should not be used with, unvented gas logs.
- Minimum fireplace size: Check the fireplace against the minimum fireplace dimensions table in the installation manual before ordering.
- Venting: Vent-free: no chimney or vent required. Manual (VFDM) and millivolt (VFDR) models may also be installed as a vented decorative log set; the damper clamp must be used. Thermostats (including the VFDT thermostat models) are for vent-free applications only.
- Clearances to combustibles: Sides of the fireplace opening at least 6" from any combustible wall; ceiling at least 41" above the fireplace opening
- Mantel clearance: Non-combustible material must extend at least 12" above the fireplace opening (at least 8" with a hood). Follow the mantel chart in the installation manual for any combustible mantel above the unit.
- Minimum room size: At least 50 cu ft of room volume per 1,000 Btu/hr of combined appliance input: at least 1,700 cu ft for this burner alone.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms: Not permitted. An unvented heater over 10,000 Btu/hr may not be installed in a bedroom or bathroom (over 6,000 Btu/hr in a bathroom). In Massachusetts, unvented gas heaters are prohibited in bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Gas input (BTU/hr): Natural gas 34,000 max / 24,000 min; propane 34,000 max / 26,000 min
- Glass doors: Do not operate with glass doors closed.
- Power: Millivolt (VFDR) models use a self-powered thermopile valve and do not need 110V electricity.
- Installation: Must be installed by a qualified installer per the installation manual and local codes.
